Landscape and Horticulture Scope and Sequence
Program / Hours: CIP 01.0601 – 2 Year Half Day Program
Course Description: Learn how to operate landscaping equipment as in push mowers, zero turns, skid-steer and how to use horticultural tools. Work with plants outdoors and in the greenhouse that meet industry standards. Students will learn how to identify ornamental, medicinal, and crop producing plants. Experience many career pathways and skills in horticulture and landscape through field trips, hands on experiences, and academics. In addition, be involved with the National FFA Organization to display horticultural and landscape skills during competitions against other PA FFA Students. FFA involvement could include PA Farm Show landscape displays, horticultural designs, and horticultural related equipment creations or renovating equipment.

Biography
I began my career in the Landscape and Agriculture career field at my family’s farm producing vegetables on a four-hundred-acre farm in Lebanon County. My formal education was completed at Penn State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, which allowed me to manage farms. My agricultural experience also allowed me to work with landscape companies while I lived in Tennessee. In my spare time, I enjoy working with my chickens, taking my dogs for a walk, working in my garden, and spending time with my family and friends.

Grading Scale
The LCCTC grading system incorporates three components: competencies (skill— 33.3%), career skills (work ethic— 33.3%), and theory (knowledge—33.3%). Each academic class implements a performance evaluation/student grading system that incorporates career skills (work ethic), and theory (knowledge). Each component is weighed equally.

Progress Reports
Students will receive a “Progress Report” each mid-quarter through the mail for any student with a 70% or less, and a “Report Card” will be given to each student at the end of each quarter. It is the student's responsibility to share this information with their parents/guardians. Both reports will utilize student performance data obtained from competencies, career skills, and theory grades.
Please Note: 40% is the minimum grade for the first 3 marking periods. However, students with excessive absences may be assigned an earned grade with administrative approval. There is no minimum grade for the 4th marking period.
